Getama is a society created in Denmark since 1899, originally specialised in cabinet making and then in mastresses, the manufacturer Getama has been working along and collaborating with danish designers for over 60 years.

Between them is the internationally renown Hans J. Wegner, his design is appreciated for its pure and strong lines, its quality of materials and its durability.
In 1950 the designer creates a serie of armchairs and wood framed sofas with loose cushions especially for Getama, because of the manufacturer’s experience.


Hans Wegner visits the Fabric a least once a year. Together, in the course of time, they will design and realize over 120 models. Between them successfull creations that became classics such as the GE290 armchair and the GE258 sofa bed.
Their collaboration will also etend in arranging public spaces, among them : Hospitals, Hotels, offices.

Getama also collaborates with the danish iconic designer Nanna Ditzel, for wich he releases new productions in the 90’s. Other collaborations with architects-designers like 2R Rasmussen & Rolf and Niels Jørgen Haugesen will enrich their array of furnitures.

In strecth collaboration with ingeniors and architects Getama concieves and realise fournitures
adapted to instututions halls: auditoriums, theatres, lecture halls.
One of its important projects is the Royal Danish Playhouse in Copenhaguen, opened in 2088 and wich has recieved the Riba National and International Award for architecture excellence the same year.
