Originally designed by Dutch architect and designer Gerrit Rietveld in 1934 to utilize surplus wooden pallets, the Crate collection has been re-launched as a Rietveld Originals and HAY collaboration.
Manufactured with respect to the original design, the Crate Dining Chair shares the same precisely balanced proportions and transparent construction to minimize production costs and optimize the assembly process.
Featuring a gently sloping back and supportive armrests, the chair's simplicity and spatial design reflect the designer's architectural style - offering functionality and comfort without absorbing space.
Crafted from solid pine with a water-resistant lacquer finish in a variety of color options, the Crate Dining Chair is suitable for many outdoor environments and can be complemented with optional seat cushions in select textiles for added comfort.
