Alvar Aalto design by Artek, 1959.
The Artek A810 floor lamp was inspired by the A809 model with a triple diffusor, by the same designer. Both lamps were selected for the beautiful home of composer Joonas Kokkonen, the Villa Kokkonen in Finland.
The A810 lamp has a double diffusor with two cylindrical shades in white steel. Each shade can be turned on separately thanks to the two dedicated cords. It is therefore easy to switch between pleasant mood lighting for a cozy atmosphere and comfortable reading light, concentrated downwards.
Both shades diffuse different types of light: while the large opening of the first shade emits diffuse mood light, the smaller opening of the second shade lets out more concentrated light, perfect for reading.
The light diffused between the panels adds a decorative touch to the lamp.
