Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec design, 2016
Belleville chair is inspired by the vibrant Parisian neighborhood of the same name, by its unique atmosphere but mostly by the tipical « titi » parisian bistro there and its furnishings.
Its is indeed in the heart of this area that designers and brothers Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec settled their workshop.
If the Belleville chair’s shape is the perfect incarnation of the classical parisian bistro furnishings, integrating its main design, plastic and iconic references, its lines and materials have been actualized.
The chair is made of plastic and consisting of two components: a structural frame and a seat shell. Tracing the calligraphic lines of the legs and back, the slender black frame supports a thin shell that tapers from the wide seat surface into a narrow backrest.
Belleville chair is resolutely contemporanean and sophisticated thanks to its sober and fluid design associated to resistant and light material such as the moulded polyamide, and neutral colors wich allow the chair to make its room in any kind of space, private as well as public ones, combined in flats, bistro or restaurants settings.
The chair is available in two versions, one with black polyamide frame and colored moulded polyamide shell, the other with black polyamide frame and moulded plywood veneer shell.
The version made entirely in polyamide allows an outdoor use.
