Hans Wegner design for Carl Hansen, 1950.
The Iruna CH25 armchair is one of Hans Wegner’s first creations. Designed for the first time in 1950, it has fast become a symbol of 20th century design, even though it still looks just as modern today.
Its meticulously crafted solid wood structure gives it impressive stability. Hans J Wegner, the designer, started working as a cabinet-maker, which explains his interest in painstaking woodworking techniques and his great respect for wood.
The weaving of the seat is carried out by hand by highly qualified craftsmen and each armchair takes around 8 to 10 hours to make. The unique pattern requires over 400 meters of paper cord.
The curved back legs of the armchair give it a dynamic yet calming appearance. The seat is low and the back perfectly angled for maximum comfort. The large armrests not only add extra comfort but also make it easy to sit down and get up.
Its natural and soft design allows it to enhance any type of interior.
