Arne Jacobsen design for Louis Poulsen, 1960.
Designed in 1960 for the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhaguen, the AJ floor lamp is now world renowned in the lighting industry.
The lamp emits asymmetrical light, directed downwards. The head can be adjusted and inclined to ensure good lighting condition. The inside of the shade is painted white, which makes the light soft and comfortable.
The hole at the base of the table lamp was originally designed to hold an ash tray, but also adds lightness and delicacy to the structure.
To mark the 60th anniversary of the AJ lamp family, 5 new finishes were introduced, bringing the number of available colors to 10.
