Design Vihelm Lauritzen, circa 1940
The wall lamp, originally designed for the Radiohuset building in Copenhagen as a table lamp by Vihelm Lauritzen, is being relaunched in its original design under the name of VL38 floor lamp since September 2016, and makes part of a series wich includes VL38 table and floor lamps.
Vihelm Lauritzen was one of the most important architect of the modernist and functionalist movements, he designed the radiohuset building and all the lights fittings were elaborated in collaboration with Louis Poulsen, the VL38 was originally used in the studios there.
The shade of the lamp has a delicate and organical shape and is obliquely angled, therefore the light is orientated downwards and creates a smooth and pleasant illumination, perfect to use to work or as a more ambiantal ilumination.
Its beautiful and timeless design is elegantly brought by the contrast between its white shade and base and its brass stem wich features a small hinge, allowing to adjust the shade and optimize the light distribution.
