TAPIS COCOON

Design Hella Jongerius,

Cocoon is an unexpected interpretation of the classic woven rug. Designer Hella Jongerius sought "to create a layered, tactile woolly landscape with soft knots" accentuated by a generous border.

A long pure wool yarn was twisted with two colors, either to assert a strong contrast, or to play on a more soothing tone-on-tone association. The yarn is then felted to a soft, comfortable texture before being knotted to form irregular tufts. The result is spectacular and long-lasting.
