Designed by Hvidt & Mølgaard in 1950, the AX armchair with armrests occupies a unique place in the design landscape.
The Danish duo, already well known for their Portex series, took part in the 1948 "International Low Cost Furniture Design Competition" alongside such design greats as Hans J. Wegner and Charles Eames. Worldwide attention led to the development of the AX collection, which introduced innovative laminate veneer technology.
