The Aalto vase is an icon in Finnish glassware and design. Alvar Aalto created the Aalto vase in various sizes and colours for the 1937 Paris World Fair.

The legendary shape of the Aalto vase is inspired by the Finnish landscape and lakes. It has been reinterpreted ever since, and today there is a wide variety of different objects using Aalto's world-famous shape.

Alvar Aalto never showed how to use his glass objects, but wanted the people who use them to decide. This freedom to interpret origins and function is perhaps what has kept the Aalto collection so contemporary and original. 

Each vase is mouth-blown at the Iittala glassworks in Finland.
