Poul Henningsen, 1926.
The PH 4 1/2 - 4 pendant’s design is based on its set of reflective lampshades which creates pleasant glare-free light, gentle on the eyes.
The system is based on a logarithmic spiral, with the focal point of the light source situated at the center.
The 3 layers of hand blown opal glass, polished on the upper side and sandblasted on the inner side, let out soft and diffuse light. 12% of the light seeps out through the shades and contributes to the ambient lighting of the room, while most is directed outwards and downwards for high-quality functional lighting.
The dimensions of the lampshade have a ratio of 3:2:1, thus homogeneously reducing the quantity of light emitted.
PH 4 1/2 - 4 is also available as a table lamp.
