Venus series illustrates designer and cabinet-maker Hans J.Wegner's genius by showing features of his main masterpieces : fine material, refined joining, curved, pure and light lines, simplicity.
The Venus Bench features a seat and back in walnut which are cut loose from the frame, creating a light and elegant expression. The subtle inclination of the seat, which can be padded and upholstered with leather or fabric, to provides more comfort.
On all models, the frame is made of solid oak, while the seat, back are made of plywood-walnut bent in two dimensions.
Hans J. Wegner choose the plywood beacuse first, it was the only technique possible to create a such shape and secondly, it provides an higher breaking strength.
The Venus collection was originally produced by Fritz Hansen, but disappeared from the market in 1950.
Last year, the furniture factory Getama succeeded in acquiring the rights to the furniture series, and after having developed the necessary tools, Getama could present the furniture in 2015.
