Hans J. Wegner design, 1947.
The Peacock chair was designed in 1947 by the famous Danish designer Hans J Wegner, who was inspired by the beautiful Windsor chairs.
The name Peacock was given by a colleague architect and designer, Finn Juhl who first noticed the feather like appearance of the back.
The sturdy chair is entirely made from solid wood, with a paper cord seat.
The wooden slats were designed to keep the back perfectly straight, with the flat parts placed where the shoulder parts meet the chair.
The large back and armrests add extra comfort.
Even though the chair was first produced in 1947, its modern lines and extravagant back seem just as attractive today. A true work of art!
